What peace means to me

Peace means we, as people, wish for the happiness and well-being of others regardless of our many differences and views. Despite our differences, we embrace what others believe in, respect them, listen to their points of view, and accept that we all have the right to express our own feelings and thoughts.

Why I joined the Board of Directors of the PCoC

I joined the Board of Directors because I believe in the Peace Center of Connecticut’s mission. There is no better time than now to come together to help people feel safe and respected through collective impact. Creating ultimate peace won’t happen overnight, or without the power of we; everyone needs to actively play a role in achieving it. The PCofC’s approach to being the central hub for peace efforts in the state provides opportunities for people of all backgrounds to equally contribute to the success of our communities. At the same time, our goal is to help people feel connected to and find common ground with others.

I am excited and honored to work with Iran and the team to recognize our local peace heroes, those who are deeply committed to building communities that stand strong together in a world full of noise and unnecessary violence. Organizations like the Peace Center and its partnerships give us hope for a better future, prosperity and personal gratification that wouldn’t otherwise exist.
